Mark Bennett for South Carolina Senate

Why Mark

We have an opportunity to elect a truly honest man. My husband, Mark Bennett, is running for South Carolina State Senate District 17 as a Republican. Mark is a Christian Constitutional Conservative. There aren't many people like Mark willing to step-up and run for public office. Mark is not your typical politician. He is 39 years young and has been married to me for nine years. We are the proud parents of two wonderful boys, James and John. They both attend Lewisville Elementary School in Richburg, SC - a school that Mark is proud to say he attended many years ago.
Mark graduated from Lewisville High in 1987 with Honors. At the age of 18, Mark was nominated and accepted as a deacon of his life-long church, Union ARP in Richburg. I now teach the Pre-K/Kindergarten Sunday School Class there and we pride ourselves on having the freedom to bring our children up in accordance with God's Word. So many people in the world don't have this luxury and more and more of us need to start understanding just how blessed we are.
You may ask: "Just what does Mark stand for?" Well, Mark stands for God!!!!! He is, of course, Pro-Life. He received the LIFEPAC endorsement from the South Carolina Citizens for Life.

We both feel that when government leaders decided to take prayer and any mention of God out of our schools, that was when the country's morality truly started to decline.
He also stands for our Second Ammendment rights and is strongly in favor of lowering our taxes.
We are so greatful for all the wonderful opportunities God has given us. Mark felt led by the Lord to run for office, believing that it's time for someone to step-up and press-on to get things back to the way our forefathers originally planned.
Mark is just the person for the job and with your help and prayers I'm there is hope for our great state!

Yay or Nay:

When I attended a recent political debate in Rock Hill, one of the questions asked of the candidates was "Where or what do you turn to for the hard, pressing questions in life?"
One of the candidates answered (something to the effect of) "I look deep inside myself and after much contemplation, I usually come up with an answer.
When the question came around to Mark - his answer, without hesitation was:
"I look to the Bible for all answers in life." I said to myself, "Now THAT'S my man!"

At another point in the debate one of the candidates pointed out that it doesn't take a law degree to answer yay or nay to a bill resolution.
I agree completely with that statement! I would like to add to that though.
What a leader does need to have is a character that can correctly discern what is right and wrong - Mark Bennett has that character because his character is defined by his Christian Faith in Jesus Christ!

Supports Bennett for Senate:

This was originally published as a letter to the editor of the Chester News and Reporter.

My name is Josephine Darby, a lifelong resident of Chester County, Richburg area, and a past state executive committeeman of the Chester County Republican Party. I have known Mark Bennett all his life, and I know what a nice young man he is; therefore, I am writing this endorsement for Mark as Republican for State Senate District 17.

I believe that Mark is an excellent candidate for this position. He is a Christian conservative who would work hard for us with no self-interest involved. He is interested in the people and would seek our input before attending sessions in Columbia. One thing that Mark is strongly against is raising taxes. He believes that we are already over-taxed; we just need to lower those taxes and implement plans to make the best use of that money. Several important organizations have already endorsed Mark. Among them is LIFEPAC, the political action committee for S.C. Citizens for Life, which is the South Carolina branch of National Right to Life. Mark is a fair, honest, and open-minded person who would be an outstanding representative of District 17.

I urge you to vote for Mark in the June 10th Republican Primary and again in November to elect him as S.C. Senator for District 17.
Then he can go to work for you!

Jo Darby - Chester
